IATEFL Publications
IATEFL Voices
I became editor of Voices in 2018. Voices is a bimonthly magazine distributed in print and digital formats to all IATEFL members. I am always looking for articles of interest to the ELT community; please get in touch at editor@iatefl.org if you would like to write for us.
IATEFL Conference Selections
I have been editor of IATEFL's annual Conference Selections publication since 2010. Conference Selections is a collection of reports of papers delivered at the annual IATEFL conference, held every year in the UK. It is a peer-reviewed publication with distribution in print and digital formats to IATEFL members in over 100 countries.
In this role, I decide, with my Editorial Committee, which papers should be published; I organize the papers into chapters; I edit the manuscript for accuracy and consistency; I write the general introduction and chapter introductions; I prepare the table of contents, subject index and author index; and I proofread the manuscript after layout. To date, I have edited over 800 reports of conference sessions. For a description of what my role entails, please see my blog post on the IATEFL website.
Materials Writing Special Interest Group (MaWSIG)
I was Deputy Publications Coordinator from 2016 to 2018; in this role, I edited all blog posts and member communications.
Other Materials Editing
These days I am focusing more on writing and on my IATEFL publications, though I occasionally take on other editing projects. I am particularly interested in working on resource/teacher development materials, and I welcome enquiries from self-publishers. My editing clients have included: Alpha/Smart Education (UAE); the British Council Malaysia); Cengage-National Geographic (Singapore); Epigeum/OUP (UK); HarperCollins (UK); Kaplan (UK); Mentoring Minds (USA); Oxford University Press (UK and Canada); and Richmond (UK). I have carried out editorial training/mentoring for the University of London Institute of Education in Kazakhstan and the UK.
Academic Editing for Individual Clients
I enjoy editing and proofreading academic texts (journal articles, theses and dissertations) in a variety of subject areas. Over the last few years, I have worked on papers in advertising, art and design, archaeology, cultural anthropology, computer science, economics, education, English language teaching, history, law, nutrition, politics. Please contact me for more details.
